“A rare c.1920s ‘Speed God’ accessory motor mascot, retailed by Finnigans Motor Accessories of London and made in France. Hollow-cast and retaining its original nickel-plated finish, the base is marked ‘FINNIGANS – LONDON’ and ‘MADE IN FRANCE,’ and the sculpture is signed by G. Poitvin.
Many surviving originals are also found with an inserted founder’s/authenticity disk associated with Contenot Le Livre of Paris—details that help separate period pieces from later reproductions.”
