BAe Jetstream 41 AEW Concept – 1:24 Cutaway Study Model

1:24 scale cutaway model of the BAe Jetstream 41 Airborne Early Warning concept aircraft, showing detailed interior mission consoles and crew on a display stand.

This 1:24 scale cutaway of the British Aerospace Jetstream 41 Airborne Early Warning (AEW) concept captures a rare “what-if” aircraft that never left the drawing board. Intrepid Design’s model brings the cancelled programme to life, revealing the internal mission systems and crew layout that would have transformed a regional turboprop into a compact surveillance and command platform.

Developed from the Jetstream 41 regional airliner, the AEW concept explored a cost-effective solution for nations needing airborne early warning without the size and expense of larger jet platforms. Our scale model showcases:

  • Detailed interior cutaway showing mission consoles, operators and equipment racks
  • Cabin zoning for radar operators, communications, and systems support
  • External modifications to the baseline airframe to accommodate sensors and avionics
  • High-fidelity exterior capturing the proportions and stance of the original Jetstream 41

Although the real aircraft was never built, this model preserves an important chapter of British aerospace design thinking – a window into how advanced surveillance capability might have been packaged into a compact turboprop platform.

At Intrepid Design, we use historical and conceptual subjects like this to tell richer stories in three dimensions: combining research, craftsmanship and narrative to celebrate the ideas that shaped – and sometimes nearly reshaped – aviation.
